How can we help?

Tuesday 8 September 2020

Special Market Garden day

Coming Sunday 20 September, the Freedom Museum in Groesbeek will celebrate 76 years of Operation Market Garden. For this reason, the museum opens its doors to the public at 10.00 am.

This is a perfect opportunity to visit and experience our temporary exhibition “The Second World War in Film”. In the exhibition space you can view props and costumes from well-known and lesser-known films. Everything from classics like A Bridge Too Far and Zwartboek to more recent productions like Inglourious Basterds, Unsere Mütter, unsere Väter and Dresden. Among the showpieces are a costume worn by Tom Hanks, a script owned by Sean Connery and a uniform worn by George Clooney.

Between 10.00 am and 4.00 pm there will be live performances by the Pauwergirls on the outside area of the museum. Their repertoire exists of recognisable songs from the ‘40s until now: Everything from the Andrew Sisters to Caro Emerald. There will be songs you simply want to listen to and others will make you sing or dance along. Grateful Generation tours will organize exciting fieldtrips along the battlefields of Operation Market Garden in an authentic Willys MB from WW2 (2 to 3 persons, a maximum of 1 group is allowed at the same time). Tours every half hour from 10.30 am-4.30 pm. Price: €8.50 per person, cash only (excl. Entry-fee for museum). Please note: wearing a face mask during the field trip is mandatory. You must bring your own face mask. If you do not have one, you can purchase a mask for a small fee from the organisation of the field trips.
