About us
The Freedom Museum is a historical educational museum that tells the cross-border and multi-perspective story of War and Freedom without Borders for young and old. The focus is on the Second World War, in the context of the history of the 20th century and current events. The museum is affiliated with the Dutch Museum Association (NMV) and has the Registered Museum quality mark.
The general management of the Freedom Museum is in the hands of Wiel Lenders, also a historian and director of the Infocentre WW2 Nijmegen. The team also consists of Rense Havinga (historian & curator), Iris Möller (coordinator Infocentre WW2 Nijmegen), Nadia Boujida (coordinator group bookings), Anthony Livius (coordinator education) and Charlotte Schuurs (PR / Marketing coordinator). In addition to these 6 paid professionals, 120 volunteers are active for the museum. Human Resources Coordinator and confidential adviser is Karen van Gelder.
