Liberation Festival & Children’s Flea Market 2019
The Freedom Museum in Groesbeek will once again hold its Liberation Festival with various fun activities for all ages on Sunday 15 September 2019. The Liberation Festival will be open throughout the day from 10:30 am - 4:30 pm with a colourful children’s flea market. Tickets are only €5.00 per person (which includes museum entrance, festivities and parking). Entrance is free for children under 18.
Various musicians will perform, including Bill Baker's Big Band, Band of Four Brothers, the International Liberation Choir and singer Suzanne Menheere. Exodus Evacuation Group will act out the '44-'45 evacuation and kids can have their faces painted or participate in a hula hoop workshop by La Hoop. There are radio-controlled military model airplanes and historical jeeps present on the museum grounds as well. You can also take a look at the radio show with transmitting and receiving equipment from WWII or create a fun historic picture with a GreenScreen offered by PicsPoint Photography.
Grateful Generation Tours organises exciting fieldtrips in an authentic Willy’s MB from WWII (2 to 3 persons) along the Market Garden battlefields. The short 30-minute tours (offered every half hour between 10:30 am and 4:30 pm) are fun for all ages, but a definite must for the youth. Costs: €8.50 pp, cash only, (€5.00 for festivities, museum entrance and parking not included). Reservations can be made on the spot on the day of the festival.
Lastly, The Euregio Vrijheidswandeling (EU Region Freedom Walk) also takes place on 15 September during the festival and goes straight through the museum. This annual walking event focuses on walking in freedom and experiencing liberty, democracy and human rights. The freedom walk makes a stop at the Liberation Museum, so all participants are granted free admission to the museum.
