Freedom Market

To mark the occasion of the 78th anniversary of Operation Market Garden, the Freedom Museum will organise a new-style Freedom Market from 10am to 5pm on Sunday 18 September 2022. On this day, there will be a lot of different things to do, both in the museum and the grounds around it, of course including our annual Children’s Flea Market!

The entrance fee for the festival is €7.50 for adults and €3 for children aged between 7 and 17. Entry for children up to age 6 is free. Other discounts/promotions will not be valid on this day, and multiple discounts cannot be combined. 

You will be able to enjoy various musical performances by Bill Baker’s Big Band, The Barclay Brothers and other entertainers. Children can take part in special activities for kids all day, such as drawing cartoons and making Freedom Skirts. And you can take a look behind the scenes of a radio broadcast that uses WWII broadcasting and receiving equipment or marvel at the various classic war-time cars (Citroën) on display. There will also be various food and drink stalls and, on top of all that, walkers doing the Rhine-Waal Euregion Freedom Walk will be passing through on the day of the festival.

Grateful Generation Tours will be organising another edition of their successful and exciting field trips on 18 September, taking people on a tour of the battlefields of Operation Market Garden in an authentic Willys MB Jeep from WW2 (2 to 3 persons). These trips will be short 30-minute tours (starting every half hour between 10am and 5pm). They are for all ages, but an absolute must for youngsters. Fee: €8.50 per person, cash only (not including the €7.50 fee for the festivities, museum visit, and parking). The Netherlands Museum Pass will not be valid. Reserve on-site on the day. Please note: limited places available.
